Just this past month, I have begun to start using a remote scope in Spain. Under pristine B3 skies and at an elevation of close to 7,000 feet, it doesn't get too much better for imaging!
Over the past year now, it has been a dream of mine to discover something of my own in the night sky. However, with my high B5 backyard skies, along with poor weather and a bad horizon, I have been sort of forced to look elsewhere for my data. Hence, remote imaging became my number one choice.
The rig I was looking for sort of popped up into my hands. I needed a large, fast scope capable of doing fast surveys, as well as a reliable system that I knew would be problem free. That - is exactly what I am currently using! The rig I am using is currently hosted at Trevinca Skies in Spain. The winter weather isn't great but the summers are exellent. The gear will be listed below!
The Orion nebula in SHO from the remote observatory!
A super high quality newtonian with an excellent mirror. Provides super sharp data - like super sharp, especially with the AAF3. A joy to use
Full frame, 3.76micron pixels, what more can you ask for in an astro cam! Has some dew issues but it is what it is. I think its around three years old so.
An absolute beast. Can hold over 140lbs, direct drive motors. Silent, and slews insanely fast, probably one of my drem mounts.
No issues - works as it should
One of the best focusers I have ever used. Thing just works. Stars are incredibly sharp.
*picture isn't mine, couldn't find any pictures of the filter online. But anyway, great filters - no star halos and just give excellent narrowband and also LRGB data.
